Hi,

I'm a French student who's always wanted to become an interpreter. I have finally been accepted into the Westminster programme, after a lot of training for the exams.

I was lucky enough to find training partners with the exact language combination I needed. However, I think it's very hard for most students to find partners to prepare for the entrance exams to high-ranking interpreting schools (ESIT, ETI, Monterey, Westminster etc.). After all, conference interpreting is a very specialized field and you don't bump everyday into someone who wants to do this very job for a living... so I had the idea to create a forum where all students could meet and find the right training partners, in order to increase their chances of being accepted on their first trial.
There's also room for discussions and questions about the profession, as a few professionals participate on a regular basis.

The address is http://interpreters.freeforums.org

Please note that this site is intended only for students who are currently or should soon be attending an interpreting school, it is not for language learners.

Thank you !

Aymeric - if you do a small write-up we can feature this on the news site at http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/cross-cultural/intercultural-communication-translation-news/.

All you need to do is send it to the info@ address.

Regards
Neil
