Playa Conchal Beaches Costa Rica
Playa Conchal is actually a very unusual beach in that there is actually no sand on the beach. Although you can walk along the beach and relax on what looks and feels like sand, the ground on the beach is actually composed of tiny crushed sea shells that have been broken down over millions of years.
Although Playa Conchal is often the designation used to describe a whole area, it is in fact simply a beach among many. Other famous beaches in the same area include Playa Brasilito, Playa Flamingo and Playa Tamarindo, all of which are beautiful and have excellent facilities and swimming conditions. Playa Conchal, however, is particularly popular with snorkellers because the waters off the beach are especially clear allowing you to see down several meters to catch a glimpse of the amazingly varied marine life in the area. The best places for snorkeling on Playa conchal are on either end of the beach amongst the rocky cliffs where many rare and beautiful fish can be found hiding amongst the rocks and jutties.
