YE Language Diversity In A United Europe

Language is a way of communication, a way of expressing feelings, emotions and also it is a part of a culture, sometimes a way to integrate or to exclude.Yet we do not live anymore in closed national states; we live in an ever more uniting Europe, this Europe is not one big piece but a clear mix of diversity. So, it is very important for today's young generation to understand these languages, to know what the place of language is in the European Union construction, how it helps to respect and tolerate other cultures and value the importance of the European cultural heritage. This youth exchange will bring together young people from eight member states of EU to Luxembourg, one of the historical centres of the European Union. It has highly symbolic meaning, because there are 3 official languages in tLuxembourg, and during this youth exchange young people will explore together in an interactive way how the importance of languages and how this diversity is a strength to unify.Young people will meet new friends from other countries, learn about their cultures and break a lot of stereotypes about them. The concept of the exchange will after be exported to other countries and in 2008 we will make a guide of good practices what we want to spread among youth organisation and schools on idea to show the real add value of non formal education program. We will use the support from other educational programmes from the EC (Socrates).
