Philosophy on the Way to ASL: Language Decay
In this vlog, Carl Schroeder discusses his personal experience with language decay in Gebarentaal and the Dutch language. It is because these languages are not widely used in the United States. When I returned to Holland, I was able gradually to pick up these languages, thanks to the large size of the human brain. Many ASL students who stopped using ASL underwent this language decay, too. But they would be able to pick up signs S-L-O-W-L-Y.
