Amharic is a Semitic language spoken in Ethiopia. It is the second most spoken Semitic language in the world, after Arabic, and the official working language of Ethiopia. Ethiopia is one of the oldest countries in the world and Africa's second-most populous nation. Ethiopia was one of the first nations to officially adopt Christianity in the 4th century AD. Addis Ababa (Capital) is the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union.
